ABOUT MELISSA:
While finishing her doctoral work at MGH Institute of Health Professions, Dr. Melissa M. Powers completed a year-long internship in manual therapy, receiving specialized training in manual techniques for spine and extremity.  She then went on to complete training in dry needling, myofascial release, and high-velocity low-amplitude thrust manipulation of the cervical, thoracic, lumbar & SIJ.  Melissa treats nearly all orthopedic conditions with special interests in back and neck pain, lumbopelvic mechanical malalignments, SIJ dysfunction, femoral acetabular impingement, and acetabular labral tears as well as sport specific injuries.  She finds great joy in achieving superior results with patients dealing with chronic pain or movement dysfunction, who perhaps have been unsuccessful in other PT clinics.

Melissa believes her approach to therapy is unique in the current health care environment.  She seeks to work closely with her patients, evaluating each injury as it relates to the entire body and the whole person.

With over 20yrs of experience as a ballet dancer and 15 yrs as an avid yogi and long-distance road and trail runner, Melissa enjoys working with the performing arts community and endurance athletes.  Outside of her physical therapy practice she enjoys training for marathons, practicing and teaching yoga, and cycling as well as hiking and SUP boarding with her amazing husbandand hilarious four hounds!
